I learned about the technology standards, voicethread, photostory, scholastic keys programs, and the times attack multiplication game.

I am going to take my class to the computer lab during math time to play the times attack game. This will help reinforce multiplication skills, and address some of the proposed technology standards.

I currently have no questions or concerns at this time.

  2.   4th grade teacher Says:

I am going to try Spellingcity.com with my class. I really like Kidsperation and look forward to doing that, too. I think they will have fun creating an Avitar.

Can everyone successfully log on, create a word document, and correctly save to their file.

  3.   Monica Corpus Says:

I liked the opportunity to see upcoming technology standards.

I learned how to use Kidspiration to go directly from plan, first write to a document in Microsoft word.

I will have my students use the Your Wild Self program as a writing prompt, as well as using Spelling City to practice spelling words.

My only question is if someone could organize all our various resources. Sometimes , I remember seeing a site, or program, and then cant remember where it was.

  4.   Sharon Mayhew Says:

We learned how to integrate technology in the classroom, using the state technology standards. We worked on experimenting with new software such as voicethread, photostory, and scholastic keys. As a class will be coming to the lab to reinforce spelling skills as well as working on writing skills using kidspiration and inspiration software. I found the voice recording technology very interesting and can see how that could be very helpful in my classroom. I currently have no questions or concerns at this time.

  5.   Joan Marks Says:

I learned about photo story, using microphones, build your wild self onstudent activities, making graphs, kids spiration for outlining, spelling website, and writing.

My class will use the spelling website and making graphs. We will be going to the computer lab with Betty to make a wild self and write a story about it. We will also use excel to create rates charts.

Will we have time in our schedule to meet the technololgy standards?

  6.   patti lang Says:

    1. i learned about voicethread
    2. i will look forward to working on a voicethread project with my students/ building an avatar/ kidspiration story
3.i look forward to working with you and my students on the new standards- i hope some of them will finally find a way to express themselves- by using a computer in the most efficient way for their needs

  7.   teacher Says:

I learned about the the kidspiration, and more on what is on student activities. I will try to brainstorm writing through the kidspiration webbing. I have no concerns at this time. However, I really like being shown technology when I’m infront of a computer myself and can do hands-following. Great Job Betty!!!

  8.   Caroline Spilker Says:

One thing learned-I learned that kidspiration has audio and is much more than graphic organizers.

One thing I will try- I will try to record on and use kidspiration and use voicethread.

Setting up all the aspects of voice thread are going to be challenging, but I want to do it!

  9.   4th grade teacher Says:

I learned about where to access materials, resources, and technology lessons that would be beneficial for starting off the year right. I will definitely try photo story and kidspiration graphic organizers. My only concern is time management! How do we fit it all in?? Great workshop Betty!

  10.   teacher Says:

    Great training!
I learned a lot about the photo story program and was able to play around with creating one of my own.
I will definitely try this in the classroom and wouldl ike to be able to have the students possibly create their own.
I also would like to try the voice thread program as well.
My only concern is finding the time to fit in all the wonderful things we are shown and having the time in the computer lab to try these programs with my students!
    Thanks Betty!!!!

  11.   4th grade teacher Says:

Today I learned how to utilize the internet for the use of learning in my classroom. I liked the voice thread site because it would allow the students to actively engage in their learning.

As always, I wonder how I am going to get all of this fit into one day. I wish that we could offer the students lap tops in the room so that we can have a better experience with these amazing resources. I wonder if we could get a grant to offer something like that to the classrooms without incurring more cost to the taxpayers.

  12.   Renee Says:

    1. Learned about voicethreading, keyboarding sites
    2. I learned about kidspiration and more about student interactive activites. I really do enjoy the hands on approach with teacher training.
    3. I am looking forward to implementing the activities so that students will be more proficient in computer technology.
    4. My only concern is the time element in a classroom.

  13.   Rick Brenner Says:

    Thanks Betty,

I look forward to having a technology teacher next year. Scheduled time in the computer lab will be great. I am especially interested in the Photo Story and working on Digitial Storytelling next year. I think that the scheduled computer time will allow me the time to work on Technology. Usually you get so wrapped up with everything that it falls by the wayside. Great workshop!

    Ricky

  14.   Janet Moran Says:

    Betty,

As always, this afternoon was terrific! I’m looking forward to your visiting us as we learn about integers.

One new thing: I hope I can really do the Voice Thread with my AIM students.

I know that I feel more comfortable exploring the Student Activities Page and saw some great sites for use with math manipulatives.

I’m always concerned with my own expertise, but I’m working through it!

  15.   Megan Says:

I learned about all the great ways to make graphic organizers using Kidspiration. Graphic organizers are used in the classroom everyday and Kidspiration will allow teachers to implement technology into these lessons. I will definitely implement the use of Kidspiration into our vocubulary unit. Also another great program is voicethread which will give the students a chance to “publish” their best work.
Amongst the great tools technology provides us, I find there is not enough time in the day to add on one more thing to be accountable for. Sometimes integrating technology into many lessons can be overwhelming.

  16.   4th Grade Teacher Says:

1.I learned about Kidspiration….I love the idea of taking the graphic organizer and making ‘notes’, then I transferred it to a Word document!

    2. I will have them try Kidspiration to teach outlining as we begin a writing assignment.

    3. How do we find more time? Just kidding……………….:)
A concern would be we need faster computers in the classroom

  17.   4th Grade Teacher Says:

    Hi Betty,

Let me first say that I had no idea regarding all the wonderful software programs that are available to use with my students. I think that this was a very valuable training session, you specifically pointed out software programs that are available and equally important, gave us time to explore the software and X drive folders.

One thing I learned was about the many cool software programs that are available such as Kidspiration and Photostory.

I plan to try to use the Photostory software with my students.

  18.   4th Grade Teacher Says:

    Betty,

I learned about a program called voicethread which sounds like an exciting way for students to respond to their learning while using technology! I want to try using voicethread for the students to respond to a book they are reading in class. I also want to use avatars which I will have the students create with your help. I am a little concerned about where to go from here. There are so very many amazing things I am sure that I can have the students do, but I sometimes am not sure where to begin or what to do first. I want to utilize the technology in my classroom more, including the laptop lab. I struggle with timing and lessons…particularly when I am trying to incorporate technology into my lessons. Sometimes, it seems we just get logged on, and we have to log off again. Any suggestions? I want to either do a photostory project with my class, or end of the year research and powerpoint projects with them. I wonder if you can help me with this. I think sometimes it is best for me if I jump right in and try things. Thanks for your help. You are amazing! WE ARE LUCKY TO HAVE YOUR HELP! -Julie

P.S.-I have an awesome idea for a way to use voice thread! I am going to scan in a picture of a bouquet of flowers. Then I will have my students write a mother’s day poem. Then I will have them all put their avatars around the picture of the bouquet and recite their poems into the computer for their moms! Perhaps I will do the same for their dads! I will need your help with this too! When I see you on Tuesday, maybe we can schedule.

  19.   4th Grade Teacher Says:

    1. I learned about Photostory
    2. Once I understand it, I’ll use it in my classroom.
    3. My concern – small details…
Frustration comes when something such as gtps.com is needed when you sign in for a program like Atomic Learning and find out that it doesn’t work for this particular program. What I needed to do was use my own password which I never thought about because I was paying attention to the lecture.

  20.   Rob Says:

    I learned about “Voicethread”

I plan to “try” to use Voicethread and/or PhotoStory 3

My only concern is being able to get computer time to do this.

  21.   Fourth Grade Teacher Says:

One thing I learned is how to voice thread.

I would love to try to use the keyboarding sites with my students to get them familiar with the keyboard.

One question I have is, will we be getting the 2007 version of microsoft works?

  22.   teacher Says:

There are so many programs available!!!! I love Voicethread, and hope to implement it into my instruction soon!

  23.   Carol Zarrilli Says:

One thing I learned today was how to create my own “Wild Self”! In addition, I learned about the technology standards for fourth grade, how to find lessons that integrate technology, and registered on Voicethread.

One thing I will try with my students is creating their own “Wild Self” – I know they will love it!

One concern I have is the age old question of time management.

Betty, thank you for a very informative afternoon!

  24.   4th grade teacher Says:

    Hi Betty!
I learned how to go to student sights—-loved kidspiration—- and how to go into different areas which was great. Using voice and students voices will be fun. ..
I am definitely going to try the making pictures of yourself with the students.
I do have questions about the voice thread. . .I will go into the x drive to see the directions but maybe that would be good to go over again since we had to go so fast today!!!! Loved the workshop!!!!

  25.   chris fuhs Says:

As always a wonderfully informative session. Thanks Betty!

I learned about photostory, kidspiration, voicethreads, and I made myself wild.

I definitely want to use photostory with my students. We already made ourselves wild and are looking forward to creating more voicethread projects.
Additionally, I hope to incorporate kidspiration with our new science units. We did use it for Crayfish, so hopefully it will be equally successful with electricity and motion.

My only concern is trying to remember it all on my own! You know it’s that getting old thing.

  26.   Teacher Says:

    1. One thing i learned from this workshop was how to use voicethread.
    2. One of the things i will introduce my students to are the websites on keyboarding. Photostory also seems like a fun thing to do with the students.
    3. Only concern…..faster computers in classrooms.

  27.   Kim Monroe Says:

I learned a few new tricks in Photostory as well as some cool new features in the latest version of Kidspiration.

I will be using several of these tools with my students. We have already started exploring Voicethread with the students. They are very excited to have their own avatar.

I don’t have any concerns at this time, I am thankful to have had the time to learn new things and time to explore.

  28.   Allyson Grecco Says:

One thing that I learned that I think will be very useful and the students will enjoy is the voice threading program. I also enjoyed exploring all the activities on the student home page/student activities.

One thing I plan on trying is the voicethread program I think the children will really enjoy hearing themselves.

I don’t have any concerns at this time.

  29.   Kara Manzo Says:

Thanks for a great workshop Betty!

I learned how to use Voicethread and how to create an avatar. The keyboarding websites were also great.

I plan to use the Voicethread program with my students along with their Writer’s Notebook. I also would like to try to use Kidspiration.

I don’t really have any major concerns other than having enough time to fit in all these great activities.

    Thanks again.
